Smoking – Death rate

According to recent stats 5 million people die each year due to smoking scourge.
Smokers are increasing on a high pace all over the world. Experts have warned that smoking related deaths will double to 10 million a year by 2020.
In western and developed countries people use a cigarette which is harmful but in developing and underdeveloped countries people use Bidi.
According to WHO (world Health Organization) every eight seconds a person dies of smoking related disease.
Pfizer external affair director said “Deaths from cancer, heart attacks, lung diseases and complications of pregnancy caused by tobacco are set to double."
In Middle East Pfizer is supporting the campaign marking World No Tobacco Day this year.
The aim of the campaign, starting on May 31, was to increase awareness globally about the dangers of tobacco use, to encourage governments to strictly regulate tobacco products and to get individuals quit tobacco use.
Smoking Cessation can not be stopped instantly but slowly a person can change his/her habits. |
