Chantix Kicks Smoking Far-Off
August 20, 2007
Sue Hutchison of Bunker Hill still remembers the day
when she lighted cigarette for the first time. It happened when she was
15-years-old and was getting bored while waiting for her friend. Since
then she get success only in switching several brands instead of smoking
cessation. It is been 38 years that she is lighting nearly two packs a
day. But when her recent X-ray indicated the possibility of something
serious, she realized need of smoking cessation.
"In fact, I didn't want to cease smoking. It is not that I was not
aware of its hazardous side effects, but cigarettes were an integral part
of my routine" Hutchison says.
Hutchison used to smoke after her morning tea, after feasts and even
before going to bed, in addition to other times in a day. She tried hard
to quit
smoking with cold turkey and nicotine patches, and fruitfully ceased
it while her pregnancies. But she never got permanent release from smoke.
But after having Chantix for five months, she finally got success in
curbing the addition. "After the first week on the medicine, I went
down to 10 to 12 cigarettes a day and finally reached the target of four
cigarettes a day after 12 weeks of the treatment", Hutchison further
articulates.
Alike other medicines, some side effects are associated with Chantix
such as nausea and vivid dreams.
Hutchison states she didn't endure tense and grumpy feelings that are
known to be associated with smoking cessation and there was only one specific
time when she actually desired to light up a cigarette, but it also didn't
continue for long.
