Kick Smoking with Chantix
15 Nov. 2006
If your life is going up in smoke, you have hope in Chantix,
an anti smoking drug that has the potential to make you quit smoking.
This FDA approved drug is being marketed by Pfizer.
Smokers find it very difficult to quit smoking as they become dependant
on nicotine which according to them gives a kick like none other. When
you inhale cigarette smoke, the nicotine in it reaches the brain and binds
with the receptor cells which trigger a pleasure sensation. In smokers
language this is described as 'the kick'. Chantix contains a chemical varenicline,
which has similar properties to nicotine. It binds to the brain receptor
cells triggering the same pleasure sensation as nicotine. Once done it
does not allow nicotine to reach the receptor cells. Varenicline is non-addictive
and as a smokers uses the drug it slowly takes away the nicotine dependency.
This also makes withdrawal easy as the withdrawal symptoms are milder
and easy to manage.
Once you have decided to quit smoking, you must set a definite quit by
date and begin using Chantix. This drug once used makes smoking less appealing
to a smoker. Gradually the smoker does not crave for a cigarette at all.
The whole therapy is spread over a period of about 3 months.Like any other
drug, Chantix must also be taken under medical advice and supervision.
The exact duration of the treatment may differ from individual to individual.
During clinical trials it was established that Chantix may actually interfere
with drugs taken for diabetes, blood thinning and asthma. Pregnant and
breast feeding women must be careful as Chantix is marked in category
'X' meaning that it may harm the fetus or the child through milk. Chantix
is classified as an adult drug and must only be used by individuals over
18 years of age.
Always buy Chantix against a valid
prescription issued by your doctor. Keep the drug away from the reach
of children and store it at room temperature away from direct sunlight
and moisture.
While Chantix provides a medium
for you to quit smoking by 'fooling' the brain receptor cells, your determination
is the ultimate key to your success. Seek help and support from like minded
groups, family and friends. Everybody around you will greatly appreciate
your efforts and lend a helping hand to you to lead a healthy life.
Remember smoking can kill.
